International firm Mott McDonald Consultancy to join Pavilion Design Team

With a start-date now agreed by the main funders, PACL has announced the appointment in December of Hywel Jones from Mott McDonald’s Cardiff-based office, who will act as advisor throughout the construction phase.

Maggie Knight, Project Director, said the appointment, the result of a full tender process, was very important as the building schedule began to gather pace.

“The professionals we now have in place – most of them local firms – will be assisting PACL to deliver a project which we believe will have immense impact for Penarth and the region.”

“Our mission is to make this a facility for the whole community and also for visitors and it now requires us to work very hard to accommodate the wishes of all stakeholders.”

Festive Fun at Esplanade Shop Grotto

Ho ho, ho, despite his busy work schedule Father Christmas made a special stop to visit with local children in the Pavilion shop Grotto on the Esplanade. Excited children awaited a meeting with the Jolly man so as to put in requests for Christmas morning. Some even posed with Santa for a photo! Thankfully Some of Father Christmas’ elves were there to help on the occasion – singing songs and handing out sweets!

Thanks to our kind sponsors, Hoare Lea and Purcell Miller Tritton, and Home Instead for underwriting the leaflets, all proceeds from the event will go to support the Pavilion project. Thanks are also in order to all the contributors who made the event such a success, notably Nardine Simons, Chris Ware, Sue Evans, Abigail Trottman, and Suzanne Hazell.

Happy Christmas everyone!

Our Volunteer Manager, Helen Donovan, is currently recruiting
volunteers to man our soon-to-be-opened Pavilion Shop.
If you’re interested, please get in touch!

With newly appointed premises on the water-front, The Penarth Pavilion Project is in need of expanding its ever growing bank of volunteers. The project is dependant on the support of the public and your help is invaluable in making a huge difference to the success of the reopening of the Pier.
In order to recruit, Helen Donovan has kindly stepped forward as Volunteer Manager (being a volunteer herself!) and has arranged a ‘Volunteer Drive’ on Thursday 4th August 2011 from 2 – 3pm at The Washington Gallery, Penarth. The drive will not only help to get more volunteers on board but will also be a chance to talk about the progress of the project and find out what will be happening in the future. Please come along if you can or alternatively contact the Penarth Pavilion Project team on (02920) 712 100 or info@washingtongallery.co.uk.
